Archers in Action: News & Events ~ September 2, 2026

Dear Families,

 

There was much celebration during today’s assembly as our seniors discovered their faculty advisors for their capstone project–the Senior Thesis. Each senior was paired with a faculty member who will shepherd them through the process of engaging deeply with their chosen work, forming their claims about the wisdom of that text, building extended logical arguments that defend their claims, and ultimately expressing their ideas using persuasive rhetoric in front of a faculty panel and an audience of family and friends in the spring. It is hard work, but a beautiful culmination of the education at Founders. 

 

This morning was our first Honor Roll Assembly of the year, based on performance from 2025-2026 Quarter 4. We gather together as a community for a variety of reasons throughout the year. On the first day of school, we crowded into the gym to remember our purpose and to celebrate the community with which we pursue that purpose. On September 11th, we will circle at the flagpole to remember a tragic day in our Nation’s history and the acts of heroism surrounding that event. In November, we will assemble to honor our Veterans and the sacrifices they have made to ensure that we can freely gather as free citizens in a free society. Although those formerly named occur yearly, we also have two occasions quarterly when we gather to recognize members of our own community and their efforts and accomplishments within our mission and common purpose. One is our Character of the Quarter Award, where we will honor specific students in Grammar and Upper who have habituated one of our seven school virtues over the course of that quarter. The other is our Honor Roll Assembly, where we recognize students for their outstanding performance academically in the previous quarter. In a classical school, it is one’s understanding and mastery of the curriculum that trains the mind, improves the heart, develops character, and fosters civic virtue. Therefore, it is hoped that students who have seriously pursued those studies at an accomplished level have grown toward human flourishing and happiness, the end of a right education. The accolade (the A or B) represents perseverance, diligence, and growth toward a deep understanding of the truths that lie within the knowledge being pursued. It is for that reason that our students’ accomplishments are honored before the other members of their community. 

 

Finally, it was wonderful to see all of you on campus during Curriculum Night last week. Tomorrow we will pass out the jean passes for Friday’s Spirit Day.  If you attended, your student will receive a pass and be able to wear jeans with their Spirit shirt on Friday.

➹Reminders about carline:

TURN RIGHT after approaching from the NORTH. Emergency personnel and clients who need to access our neighbors’ businesses need to be able to get by, so we can’t block both lanes of traffic. Additionally, the car line is faster for everyone when we follow the pattern.

 

DO NOT park along Leander Drive. Again, we are trying to be respectful of our neighbors, and your students are not allowed to cross the car line to get into cars. This is a safety issue. 

 

When the single lane divides by Sherwood Forest, parents who are only picking up students in front of Buildings One and Two should get in the LEFT lane.

 

After you have picked up your student, pull forward until the end of the lane to MERGE. When you brake and wait to merge into the outside lane, you hold up the whole car line. 

 

Do not go around cars in front of you–this is dangerous.

 

Pull all the way forward so there are no spaces between you and the car in front of you before you stop to let your student in the car. They will follow you along the sidewalk if you have to pull past them.

 

Only student drivers can pick up their siblings. Non-student drivers cannot. Please do not give the Upper sibling the car tag and ask them to pick them up and wait with them. 

 

Please do not hold your cell phone in the car line.
